On December 29, 2011, Jerry Gober was escorted by the Patriot Guard from McEwen Funeral Home (Charlotte, NC) to Salisbury National Cemetery where family members and many more Patriot Guard were waiting.
On this day, the Patriot Guard became part of Jerry's family and they also had the honor of being his pall bearers. The temperature that morning was about 26 degrees, but that didn't stop the Patriot Guard from honoring Jerry.
Jerry is a decorated Vietnam Veteran and served with the 8th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division. His decorations and awards include National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert (Pistol), Army Commendation Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, & the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm.
Thank you to Pineville Police Department for escorting us to I-485 and to VFW Post 2423 who were part of the procession from Charlotte, NC to Salisbury National Cemetery and who provided the Firing Party and Buglar to honor Jerry.
