A Gold Star next to a name means I attended the Fallen Hero's funeral or memorial service, escorted the Fallen Hero, or met the Fallen Hero's Gold Star Family
Our roster began as Fallen Heroes from Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and New Dawn. In 2012, we expanded to include those who lost their lives while in service to our country after 1980 for which there is no national memorial.
To our knowledge, there is no national memorial for those who gave their lives while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, which is the reason we decided to continue maintaining this section of my website after my 2011 cross-country mission honoring our Fallen Heroes. We expanded the roster to include the men and women lost in Beirut, Operation Urgent Fury (Grenada), Operation Just Cause (Panama), Operation Restore Hope (Somalia), etc.
Please do not ask us to add ALL names of ALL who gave their lives in prior wars or operations for which a national memorial exists, such as Vietnam, Korea, WWII, etc. My driver and I simply do not have the resources for such an undertaking. We also do not have the resources to identify all men and women who passed away while on active duty, but not in a war. However, if you are Gold Star Family member, we will be honored to add your Fallen Hero if you provide us with information (see next paragraph).
